Jaeger featured KVA July artist of the month
The Kailua Village Artists featured artist for the month of July is Kathleen Jaeger. Her mediums are mosaics, acrylics and pen and ink drawings.
The display of work she will be introducing this month is a sampling of what she created during Gov. David Ige’s “stay-at-home” order. During this time, Jaeger found herself drawn more to acrylic paint and exploring “being less in control; of taking what happens and working with whatever that may be.”
“The techniques I am using are more spontaneous. When I begin a new piece I am not really concerned with where I will end up. Frequently I start painting before I really know what I am going to do. I did not always sketch ahead of time (the art teacher in me is screaming at this point) but somewhere in the process I sketch directly on the partially painted surface,” she said. “It has been both exciting and a little scary. And I love what has emerged, to date a plethora of floral arrangements that previously resided only in my brain. They make right what is wrong in my world and give me hope. They make me smile.”
During the month of July, Jaeger is offering a 10% discount on sales of her work both at the gallery and online at www.kailuavillageartists.com. She will be working at the gallery in the Kona Marketplace off Alii Drive on July 10, 24, and 31.
For the month of July, gallery hours are 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday through Saturday.
